Kurt Rasmussen is the Chairman of the Board for the Rasmussen Group, a 110+ year family business which was founded by his great grandfather, T.G. Jensen, in 1912 as Jensen Construction Company in Kimballton, Iowa. Kurt grew up in Des Moines, Iowa, and worked many different jobs in the family business during the summer while in school. Kurt graduated from Grand View College in 1988 and began full-time employment in the Rasmussen Group companies.

The Rasmussen Group was formed in 1988 as a management company for several construction-related businesses. In 2003, Kurt became President of the Rasmussen Group and held that position until 2019. He was then elected Chairman of the Board and has served in that capacity ever since. The Rasmussen Group currently is comprised of seven construction-related companies: Argee Transport Company (heavy permit hauling), Central Iowa Trucking, Inc. (dump trucks), Central Iowa Ready-Mix, Inc. (ready-mix operations in the Des Moines and Omaha areas), Grimes Asphalt and Paving Corporation, Hallett Materials, Inc. (sand quarries in Houston, TX), Circle V Specialized, Inc. (heavy permit hauling), and Jensen Crane Services, Inc. (wind tower crane support).

On a philanthropic level, the Rasmussen Group established a Foundation which supports both local and state charitable causes. In addition, the Rasmussen Group companies have historically been connected to all the communities in which they operate as a good business partner, providing both financial support and in-kind donations to many local nonprofit organizations. Kurt has served for many years on the board of Anawim Housing, a non-profit organization dedicated to housing for low-income Iowans, and the YMCA Camp, a non-profit helping to build strength in mind, body, and spirit in today’s youth. Kurt currently serves on the Museum of Danish America Board, the Church Council of Luther Memorial Church, and the Grand View University Board of Directors. Kurt was past Chairman of the Board for Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino, and is the Past President of the Associated General Contractors of Iowa.
